At Advanced Venous Solution, Dr. Scott T. Koppel and his staff are trained to diagnose and treat a wide range of leg pain. A simple, quick ultrasound screening test in our office will distinguish between more serious and limb-threatening problem including PAD or deep vein thrombosis that can be rapidly addressed and treated to avoid serious complications. If your discomfort is caused by poor circulation, varicose veins, or deep venous thrombosis, we can treat your condition right in our vein center. The procedure is less expensive at his office because patients don't have to pay for a surgery center.

  • Most insurance covers the procedure.
  • Minimally invasive.
  • It provides improved patient comfort. Rapid return to normal activities.
  • Minimal to no bruising. No post procedure compression socks.

Varicose Veins

Varicose veins occur when valves within a vein are not working properly and interrupt blood from flowing back to the heart. These large, sometimes twisted, raised veins are usually found bulging from the leg’s surface. Varicose veins can be painful and ache, especially if you are standing for long periods of time. Sometimes varicose veins point to more serious circulatory problems or health issues.

Restless Leg Syndrome

Restless leg syndrome (RLS) can be a side effect of varicose and spider veins. Improper blood flow in your legs can cause an uncontrollable urge to move your legs when you are sitting or lying down for any period.

Common Symptoms of Venous Insufficiency

In the absence of other symptoms, patients with cosmetic concerns due to the presence of varicose veins might be evaluated with only a physical examination.

However, patients presenting with other symptoms of venous insufficiency, such as those listed below, should also undergo an in-depth evaluation, including a duplex ultrasound study.

  • Leg pain, aching, tired or weak legs, especially after long periods of standing or sitting.
  • Varicose veins.
  • Burning or itching of the skin.
  • Swollen legs and/or swollen ankles (edema).
  • Open wounds (skin ulcers).
